Pool Descriptions
RAM uses two pools, Milbrook Exchange Park is the substitute pool in North Raleigh for our normal Optimist Park Pool which is undergoing renovation, and Pullen Park Pool in the center of Raleigh. Both pools are 25yds x 50meter pools. The pools are operated by the City of Raleigh. Optimist Park Pool is outdoors , but covered with a heated bubble from September thru May. Note: Optimist and Pullen Park schedules are posted on the web and e-mail sent to those swimmers indicating that they practice with this group. All schedules are on the website at the address http://www.ncmasters.org/ram/schedule.shtml where all letters are lower case. All RAM pages have a link to the current schedule on the right hand bar. Normally, since the schedules are made up 1 to 2 months in advance, swim meets or repairs at these pools may require a change, so check back frequently if you haven't been at practice to be told of a change. These schedules will be updated on a timely basis as schedule changes are known.

• Year 2009 Registration - $37 for USMS/LMSC fee for 2010. Current members were invoiced in November. You may print the 2010 registration form on this web page to register for RAM.
• Monthly Charges - $45 per month in the month that you swim at Optimist and/or Pullen Pools. all members are requested to provide a credit card for monthly payments if you swim with the team at those pools pools, Click here to register online with RAM and pay your monthly fees via Visa or MC

  New swimmers are invited to swim with the Raleigh Area Masters (RAM) two times at no cost to give our practices a try and see what the team is like. If after the two free swims you want to continue swimming with RAM, you must register with USMS and RAM via the web at https://www.clubassistant.com/club/USMS.cfm?l=13 . Select NCMS as club and RAM as workout group. If you prefer, you can get a paper registration form at http://www.ncmasters.org/regforms.html . You will be prompted to pay the USMS annual fee of $37 during registration. Please note, the requirement to register is necessary for insurance and liability purposes. The link in the above paragraph can also be used to register as well as pay your monthly fee via credit card, which is requested of all swimmers who swim at the Optimist, Pullen, or Milbrook Exchange Park pools.

  The remainder of your first month is free and the $45 monthly dues ($23 for full time students) are not due until the first of the next month. New swimmers are only allowed the remainder of the month free once. Renewing swimmers are not eligible for the free month, regardless of when in the year they renew.

Monthly Dues are due by the 5th of the month and are collected via credit card from the RAM Club Assistant website shown in the link on the right at Club Registration link. If you do not have a charge card, please make arrangements via RAM's treasurer, for more information, please see the FAQ link to the right.

Optimist Park Pool is located at 5902 Whittier Drive. From the Raleigh Beltline, take the Six Forks exit north. About 2 miles from the beltline, a major intersection with Millbrook Rd has an Exxon station on the right, continue north on Six Forks, turning left at the next light on Northclift Drive (Note, only the street on the left is Northclift, on the right it is Sandy Forks Rd. Northclift is a residential street, Whittier Drive is four streets on the left, and Optimist Park Pool is at the end of the short street.

Pullen Park Pool is located at 520 Ashe Avenue. From the Raleigh Beltline, take Western Blvd into downtown Raleigh. You will pass NC State University on the left, then Pullen Drive and Pullen Park are on the left. A small street marked by a 7/11 store on the left is Ashe Avenue. The second entrance on the left off of Ashe Avenue is where to turn and the pool is the second building on the right.

Other registered swimmers may have a courtesy swim with RAM for no fee, just sign in at the entrance desk and check the date of your swim, tell the coach that you are a registered USMS swimmer and from what location.
