Weekly Calendar and news

The practice schedule is now available at Weekly Schedule

For those RAM members that use the calendar on the RAM pages, Web Calendar, there have been some changes made.  They are as follows:

  1. The calendar has changed in appearance to introduce a new platform called RaceLinkUp.  RaceLinkUp lets swimmers easily tag the meets they are planning to do using the calendar race directory.  They can invite their friends to the same races.  The result is a race calendar that shows everyone where their friends are racing. Seeing where friends are racing, and inviting others to races, can be an incentive to get others to attend.
  2. All events that are tagged by RAM members will be shown on club calendars.  Now the club calendar will show where all club members are planning to race!  Give RaceLinkUp a try at RaceLinkUp or Alternate Link.
  3. Use the pulldowns on the upper right to view different events. For instance Ram Workouts.

A Note from Hill Carrow to RAM members

As 2012 USMS Spring Nationals Meet Director, early RAM founder, and fellow RAM swimmer, I was never more proud of RAM than at the U.S. Masters Swimming National Championships in Greensboro!

RAM members truly showed how much they care about, and enjoy Masters Swimming, and how supportive they are of their teammates, other NC Masters swimmers, and indeed Masters competitors from around the country and across the globe.

It was very inspiring to see Mike & Dawn Stroupe, stalwart volunteers through all three Masters Nationals in NC (dating from 1984), putting in long hours in setting up for, and administering, the Registration room. Doug Fletcher and Laura Boone were so dedicated that they parked their RV at the Coliseum and literally lived at Nationals. They were invaluable in the Registration area as well. They were joined by Susan Massengale, Sue Haugh, Jay Holshouser, Miles Nelligan, Billy Su, Ali Fouts, Steve Weatherman, Harry DeLong, and Karl Bowman. Susan, Sue, Ali, Steve, Jay, and Harry put in particularly long hours (and were willing to be flexible as we moved them into hospitality and other areas, too), and given all the activities and some of the personalities, they are to be particularly commended.

It was also wonderful to see so many of our good RAM volunteers both assist with meet management and compete. If they were like me, a good swim helped lower the stress level and bring back some sanity. (With the exception of Coach Steve who managed to injure himself going off the block!) I think, in particular, everyone really enjoyed the relays. While President Erika set the bar incredibly high in the water with her 5 national championship swims, I assure you that RAM's stellar volunteers met that standard and more with their very positive, helpful, courteous, and professional work as Championship Meet volunteers.

The new pool and the central location appeared to lead to the highest registration level ever for North Carolina Masters Swimming and our workout groups; so Nationals will have a very nice local benefit financially and participation-wise. In the end, it was obviously a tremendous team effort that resulted in the great success of the largest swimming competition ever to take place in the Carolinas. The meet has gotten rave reviews from competitors and fans alike and will no doubt have a very positive impact on Masters swimming in our state and our country for many years to come.

Thank you!!

Swim Meets

North Carolina Masters Long Course State Championship August 18-19, 2010

RAM is hosting the North Carolina Masters Long Course State Championship at the Triangle Aquatic Center (TAC) in Cary. We need to work to ensure this meet is a success. TAC is an excellent and fast pool so we should see good attendance and some fast swims.
