A Note of Thanks to NC Masters Swimmer
By Hill Carrow and Don Gilchrist, co-meet directors for Spring 2012 USMS Nationals

The recent 2012 US Masters Swimming Spring Nationals at the Greensboro Aquatic Center has received numerous rave reviews from the swimmers and two thumbs up from US Masters Swimming. We have received many compliments on the new venue, the smooth running of the meet, and, more importantly, the friendliness and courteous nature of our volunteers.

We were thrilled to hear that the USMS Championship Committee named this is the largest single team contingent ever to participate at a USMS Nationals - of course, we are referring to the nearly 500-strong North Carolina Masters Team! And we were delighted that, at the third Masters Swimming National Championships held in North Carolina, our state team finally won its first National Championship at home.

Of course none of this would have been possible without the amazing support of Masters Swimmers, family, and friends from across our state. Altogether over 450 volunteers pitched in to ensure the major success of the 2012 USMS Spring Nationals.

For all of you who either volunteered for, or swam in, the Spring Nationals (or both), we thank you profusely and salute you for your great dedication to, and support of, Masters Swimming and the USMS National Championships. Your hard work and leadership have raised Masters Swimming in North Carolina to a whole new level.

Thanks to you, our LMSC and our workout groups have benefited. Masters Swimming in the state has grown significantly, and should be very strong for many years to come.
